This semester began with a makeover of some of the departments in AUBG.  The Daily team already introduced two of the fresh faces (Rossen Petkov and Nickolay Nedelchev), now let’s meet the rest of them.

Now, he is one of the fresh additions to the BUS (Business) department team and is currently working on unraveling the secrets of managerial accounting to AUBG-ers.
Berisha is originally from Pristina, Kosovo, and prior to joining our faculty, he spent four years at ProCredit Bank, working in two of its departments – Finance and Risk Management. Here he majored in business and after that got an MBA in management in New York. His teaching career actually started three years ago when he was offered a job at a private university in Pristina, “I wanted to bring my practical experience to the students, and I was so absolutely thrilled by it, that I continued with other courses.” This inspired him to start a PhD and focus more on teaching. The professor expressed his excitement to be back in Blago and his satisfaction with his new colleagues and with what he has seen in the classroom so far. “It was also interesting to discover that many of them have not used Excel that much,” he said. Since Berisha is busy with his PhD, his free time is mostly occupied with reading financial publications. Besides pool, back in the day Berisha was quite keen on playing basketball, and now he has taken up swimming. The one thing he most wanted AUBG-ers to know about him was, “I am not as serious as I look.” After introducing AUBG’s former students that came back to the University to teach, it is time to meet the other new faces in the departments. In terms of teaching, she said that her goal is to present the material in “an interesting, clear and educationally effective manner.” She wants to help her students succeed by helping them with developing strong working skills and preparing them for their job research. Her name is Sabina Pavlovska-Hilaiel, teaching comparative politics and corruption in Eastern Europe. She got her bachelor's degree in political science in Sofia, followed by a master's degree in the States. She expects to get her PhD in May, 2014. Prof. Hilaiel said that she challenges her students to think and wants to give them the tools to defend their opinions and never give them up. “Sometimes I would ask them why their answer is wrong,” Hilaiel said. Important for her is for the students to think and be active, “Try to have your own opinion.”   The article was put together by Yana Aladzhova and Kristina Borisova
