The Magic of the Dance - The Grand Show of Dance Crew

On May 1, AUBG Dance Crew held their most significant event of the year at the Dr. Carl Djerassi Theater. The hall was filled with students who created a tremendous atmosphere during the performance.

The event started with an opening dance from all eight girls in the crew. Twenty-nine individual and group dances were performed during the show, which continued for approximately two hours. Past and present hits from Beyonce, Bebe Rexha, and other famous artists accompanied the dances by the girls.

The dances were divided into eight pieces of a puzzle, as the first seven represented groups of AUBG clubs, combined through a common theme, and the last was for the “Newbies” - the newest AUBG clubs. The transition between the different parts of the show was done with short and thoughtful videos, introducing viewers to the following few dances.

In the final part of the performance, all eight pieces of the puzzle connected to “form” Dance Crew. The most touching part of the night came before the final dance when Dance Crew displayed a video they had created, titled “The Greatest Collaboration”. Accompanied by the sounds of Ed Sheeran’s hit “Photograph”, photos and videos of sweet moments between Dance Crew and other clubs were shown to the audience.

After the last dance, the girls received continuous and standing ovations from all the spectators in the hall. This was followed by a heartwarming speech from the president of the club, Martina Stoyanova, who praised the hard work of everyone in the club.

“We wanted to do something that represents not only Dance Crew but the whole AUBG,” Mia Haydushka, show director and dancer, said when asked how they came up with the idea for the event.

“We spent a lot of time, and it was a lot of work, but I think we had the best results,” dancer and show director Alexandra Rousou said.

“We are not that big of a club, we have 16 members and only 8 dancers, so I am really proud of what we did,” Martina Stoyanova said and added that she is grateful to every member of Dance Crew.

When asked to describe their feelings during the whole event, the three girls agreed on one answer: “rollercoaster of emotions”, but in the end, they were all happy with what they achieved.
