Hub(Conf) Endeavors

Saturday, Nov. 12 was quite a busy day at the AUBG Campus with a variety of events taking place among which HubConf 2022. The innovative conference, organized by AUBG Club The Hub, saw great interest, filling the building with students keen on technology, development, and entrepreneurship. The conference consisted of eight speakers from panels in business, innovation, and technology, who presented lectures in the Andrey Delchev Auditorium from noon to evening.

Conference lecturer experience sprawled across many internationally recognizable companies in the likes of Microsoft, Payhawk - the first Bulgarian unicorn company, and professionals who have been creating marketing strategies for decades. However, HubConf 2022 was not only an event that presented sets of lectures by experts in their respective fields but also a networking opportunity for those interested in tech, innovation, and business.

HubConf was organized with the support of HR Booths, who kicked the event off. Their stands could be found for the duration of the event. Among those people could find companies in the likes of Progress, a global software company that helps build products for other organizations, and Out2Bound - a sales development agency that helps technology companies grow and was recently acquired by global outsourcing pioneer MarketStar.

Verina Lefterova, Progress representative at the event, says the organization’s “main mission is to enable companies to be more and more successful.” This success is only possible through innovation and advancements in technology.

Out2Bound representative, and former AUBG alumni Asen Lazarov, says that company founders discovered that smaller, and even mid-sized companies will have “great proficiency in their product but they will have issues conveying the technical part and translating it” which is exactly where the sales development agency shines, as evidenced by satisfied customers from Bulgaria and abroad.  After the acquisition, the company is expected to grow from a 35 people team to around 300 people over the coming years. “There is a lot of work ahead of us but that is why we are coming to AUBG,” he adds.

The organizing process of the conference required a lot of management and cooperation from team members.

“HubConf’s main aim is to go with the purpose of The Hub, which is: learn, innovate, inspire,” says Marie Goygadjieva, President of The Hub AUBG. She shares that she would like to see the conference for innovations and technologies expand in the future by inviting more companies and speakers, especially from abroad. She is also looking forward to seeing more events, which would connect people with common interests, like HackAUBG – a programming marathon that sees contenders work in teams to create a prototype of their ideas based on a specific theme.

“We want to bring innovation here at AUBG”, says Petya Dimkova, a sophomore club member. “Innovation comes with technology,” she adds.

Only thanks to this everlasting strive to adapt and overcome, to create and innovate, did humanity leave the caves and took on to conquer the planet.
