The Time of Olympics: Opening Ceremony
With straight off the charts music, and refreshing food and drinks, students were welcomed to the 11th AUBG Olympics Grand Opening on Wednesday, April 20.
The event, which started at 8:30 p.m., was opened with a few performances by AUBG students. The AUBGers who gathered on the lawn in front of ABF Center were welcomed by Stratsi Kulinski, AUBG President, and by Dragomir Kyosev, President of Olympics. Also, a small fireworks show and a fire routine, executed by the Brisingr Club, were prepared to mark the beginning of the univrsity’s annual Olympics games.
“Apart from the weather, everything went according to plan,” Tihomir Dimitrov, a third-year student and a member of the Olympics crew, said. “Everyone did their job perfectly which resulted in a great event,” he then added.
“A well-organized event,” Pavel Dzhelyov, a second-year student, said. “Great job.”
Along with all the things the event offered, the students witnessed the traditional lighting of the torch. The act ended with the Olympics crew performing a dance sequence.
“It was cool even though not that many people showed up,” Plamen Penchev, a second-year student, said. “The only thing that had to be improved was the distribution of the food; instead of one table, there should have been two, to avoid forming a crowd,” he then added.
