Already tired of midterms and papers? We have good news: you will continue to perform hard labor under your professors, but for one short and memorable week, your will be given the chance to relax and have some unique fun! At least, that’s the plan: AUBG’s Student Government is organizing the first Spirit Week in the history of the University. Frequently held at American colleges, Spirit Weeks are week-long celebration events, featuring daily dress-ups, entertaining workshops and challenging competitions. The aim is to unite the campus and give students a motivational boost. Diana Li, junior from Kazakhstan and Vice-Chair of SG, is the main organizer of this undertaking. “Pretty much the whole week is dedicated to having fun altogether,” she says enthusiastically. “This is something that has never been done before, so I suppose the students and faculty will like the idea and enjoy it.” Although Li declined to give us any details about the themes and activities of each day, she informed us that there will be a promotional video released for that purpose. What we do know is that Spirit Week will last from April 9 to April 12 and it will culminate with the long-awaited SG party, which “should be better this semester in terms of everything,” Li said. Spirit Week will be an attempt to elevate student's morale, much like an energy drink during finals. Will it succeed? Only one way to find out!
