For yet another year, Residence Life organized a Valentine’s Day card workshop. This year the event was hosted by Diana Teloian, a Resident Assistant in Skapto 2, on  Wednesday February 12. All the supplies for the card workshop Diana bought with her personal money after her request for funds was not signed.
"The Valentine'Day Card workshop was already promoted on Facebook, posters were displayed in Skaptos and on the screen in AUBG buildings. I could not postpone the event, and so I purchased  the materials and refreshments with my own money. I hope that the issue of the frozen budget will be solved soon because students are waiting for floor parties and other beneficial wellness programs that usually take place on campus," Diana said.
For over 5 hours, the long table in Skapto 2 lobby was filled with colorful papers, various craft scissors and ribbons.  Glitter was spreading all over the floor and the nearby couches. Unlike previous years, the workshop this year attracted more guys than usual, some of whom stayed throughout the whole event. Ilko Drenkov and his son Deni did not miss the event as well. Diana reminded students that they can put their cards in the red boxes at the front desks of each Skapto by February 13, and Resident Assistans will deliver them on Valentine's Day. This year’s special feature of the event was the craft of quilling which was presented by first-year student, Yana Aleksieva.  Yana learned the quilling technique from her mother, who used to make flowers or Easter eggs and even earrings from paper."And one day when I was really frustrated, she told me to try to release the stress by making something small, figures using quilling. I really loved it and I started making earrings for myself and my friends," Yana says. She helped students at the workshop learn quilling and decorate their cards. You, too can make your cards more original by taking a look at this quilling tutorial. Yana encourages anyone who is willing to take up quilling as a hobby: "Sometimes you make such funny and inexplainable things that you do not have any idea how you got there."   Take a look at some of the cards that participants in the workshop created for their beloved ones and friends.
