By entering the second year of your university life, you are given the honor of calling yourself a sophomore. However, many people around campus like to call this period “suffer more.” You feel how courses are getting harder, the thrill of being in a new place is going away, and you cannot excuse yourself by saying you are a freshman anymore. After taking the required courses, the dilemma what to take next is growing bigger. In the rare occasion when you know what you want, the chance of signing up for each course is next to impossible. As a sophomore you have more credits than a freshman, but not enough credits to have an early registration. It is extremely annoying if you need to take some INF courses, for example; by the time your registration comes, there are already 10 people on the waiting list. Putting aside all the headache you get from the academic process and the fact that you are no longer considered "fresh," being a sophomore comes with its own perks:
  • If you came to this university with the clear idea of what majors you want to do, you still have time to change your mind - multiple times (and there's a great chance you will).
  • You have been in AUBG for one year and now you can pass your wisdom to the next generation.
  • You probably already have your own "family" on campus.
  • The DJ’s from the places you visit know you well already, so they play your favorite songs.
  • The bartenders from the same places also know you well enough to give you your signature drink the moment they see you.
  • Although you might think you have seen it all for one year, AUBG might still surprise you with the things that it can offer - both in positive and negative way.
Being a sophomore makes you appreciate more the time that you spend on campus. Your experience is growing along with your university wisdom. However, no matter how experienced or wise you get, you can never get rid of the procrastination fever. Your second year at the University seems to come with more responsibility. However, there are always things that will wake up the sleeping interest in you. Feel free to share your sophomore experience in the comments and stay tuned for our owl wisdom. And remember: We are infinite, and so are the good moments at AUBG.
