The presenter, Olena Dmytrenko, a third-year student and the president of AUBG MUN, explained briefly on how students can participate in the conference that would be held in Feb 23-25, 2018. The event offered students to sign up for the MUN forum. The best delegate, who is picked among students from that conference, will get the chance to participate in the Model United Nations conference in Rome in March. Dmytrenko participated in a MUN conference as a delegate in her first year, and decided to join the organizing team of AUBG MUN in her second year.
"There are several committees, like the ones in the UN – Security council, human rights council, EsoSoc council and UNESCO" explained Dmytrenko. "In each council there is a particular topic and the delegates who are in each of those have to make a research on the topic, present the country they are representing, and defend their positions. In the end, the collision groups form resolution paper and present it on the final day. A good incentive for people to be active is the chance to go to Rome to participate Rome MUN, which is the biggest United Nations conference in Europe. I think it is good for students to sign up so students can learn new things and have fun."
Nino Avreyski, fourth-year student majoring in Political Science and Business and club president of the Political Science Club, has participated in several MUN conferences. [caption id="attachment_37973" align="aligncenter" width="960"]Nino Avreyski; Facebook Nino Avreyski; Facebook[/caption]
"Every conference is an enriching experience that teaches you how to act in a situations that are similar if not the same as the ones real diplomats and delegations have to deal with," said Avreyski.  "Each part of the MUN is educational and fun – the debates and negotiations, the networking and the parties. Through those experiences I learned valuable public-speaking and negotiations lessons, and made many friendships and connections with people from all over the world."
Among the numerous conferences he took part in, his first MUN experience was during his stay in the US while studying in Drexel University. Last year, he went on to participate in MUN Blagoevgrad representing the UK in the Security Council.
"I am looking forward to taking a different role as a Chair of a committee. Except of AUBG MUN that I will be participating, I hope to go on to the Asian-Pacific MUN in Hong Kong or at the U.S. MUN at the UN Headquarters," further shared Avreyski.
Although the number of students who attended the event were not many, possibly due to the upcoming finals, Dmytrenko believes students will be interested in MUN conferences in the future.
