Insights on Engineering and Innovations
On Thursday, Oct. 13, AUBG students witnessed the first Aspire chat session organized by Startup Blagoevgrad. The talk focused on engineering and innovations, and provided different, yet captivating, insights on the topic.
Guest speaker of the event was Georgi Gospodinov, a graduate from the Ruse University “Angel Kanchev”, who just finished his master’s degree in Electronics. He explained what the notion of “engineering” includes and what the purpose of engineers is. By his own account, the aim of engineering is to establish a network of people who work together so that overall well-being is achieved.
However, this goal can often be “a coin with two sides.” Elaborating on the latter, he said that what is good for the people is not always good for the environment. Every improvement of life has to be carefully thought out so that it is not harmful.
Alongside the short background on engineering, Gospodinov shared his experience and some advice on how to prosper in life. The key note in his statement was that people should “break out of the comfort zone.” They have to push themselves to experience different things, even those that they find uncomfortable. Following this thought, Gospodinov concluded that then and only then, a person can be certain that success will come
To strengthen his words, Gospodinov gave an example from his life. He was more than glad to share more about his work experience in Germany and in China, where he worked for Huawei.
“I was pleasantly surprised. He covered many things, things that are important. It wasn’t one-sided,” said Bozhidar Parvanov, a fourth-year student.
The event concluded with a Q&A session followed by refreshments.
“The aim of our events this year is to find interesting people from different fields of study who can speak about various topics and can share their experience with the AUBG students,” commented Zhaklin Dib, a third-year student and Vice President of Startup Blagoevgrad.
