On Feb. 15 representatives from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, an IT consulting company, visited AUBG’s campus. Their main goal was to meet up with young and talented students and to spark an interest about career opportunities inHPE Bulgaria. A group of talent acquisition consultants from the company spent a day at the Aspire Center answering questions related to the company. In addition to the open information hours they had, the team gave a presentation on “How to Brand Yourself” on LinkedIn.
According to Maria Krasteva, a talent acquisition consultant in charge of all university related events in Bulgaria, HPE’s visit at AUBG is part of their recruitment tour around the country. She pointed out that most of their partner schools are located in Sofia. Therefore, her team wanted to expand its scope of potential candidates by targeting AUBG.
“We wanted to visit AUBG for the first time because we know that there are a lot of talented and motivated young people here,” said Krasteva.

Krasteva gave an hour-long presentation explaining the opportunities the social platform LinkedIn has to offer. She targeted the issue of how to build a profile on LinkedIn that could give a good representation of the user’s professional skills and career. The talent acquisition consultant reviewed short topics on how to choose an appropriate profile picture, present your history of employment, skills, and recommendations from current and former colleagues. Egist Kristo, a fourth-year student, expressed his satisfaction with the given lecture and its educational purpose.
“I have used LinkedIn since a few years ago but I see that a lot of students view it as an extension to Facebook. The speaker made it clear that a LinkedIn profile is a tool exclusively used for academic and work achievements,” explained Kristo.

After the LinkedIn session was over, Krasteva gave floor to questions regarding the company’s internship program policies. The HPE representative shared that their recruitment policies can engage an intern for the period of one month to one year, depending on the candidate’s interests and position availability. The talent acquisition consultant called attention to the available spots for their summer and autumn/winter programs, which can be found at the career page on their website.
Part of the HPE team that visited the campus was Viktor Popov, AUBG alumnus and a former admissions counselor and recruitment coordinator at AUBG. He shared that ever since he joined the company in October 2016, he has been fascinated with the friendly working environment and the opportunities for skills and career development.
“Moving from a recruitment coordinator here at AUBG to being a talent acquisition specialist is something that has definitely broadened my horizons,” mentioned Popov.
