The opening ceremony of the Model European Union of Blagoevgrad was held for the first time in Sofia on Friday, March 30, so that it would attract more students from outside of AUBG. A special guest was Ivailo Kalfin, a Bulgarian politician who has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Deputy Prime Minister, and a member of the European Parliament. Kalfin came to Blagoevgrad on Saturday, March 31, to give his guidance of the Parliament and help with practical experience. Delegates were provoked to look into the issues beyond the Member States position on the subject. When talking about fake news in the informal discussions, students looked through the individual aspects of how disinformation and fake fact spread affects the society and its individuals. The participants had the chance to engage in the EU simulation process of making legislation while giving the insights of young educated people.
