Considering Possible Paths for Your Future
Have you considered pursuing a master’s degree in Germany? Or how about going to a summer school there?
On Oct. 15, the students at AUBG got answers from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarship information evening about funding possibilities. Marie Fessel, a DAAD representative for Bulgaria, introduced the opportunities for future academic development, which DAAD Scholarships offer, such as getting a master’s degree and doctorate in Germany or attending German Language Summer Courses.
The presentation was of interest to those students with straightforward plans for their future. “Germany is one of the best choices for my education and DAAD gives an even better opportunity to experience it,” said Kevin Kostreci, a fourth-year student.
DAAD is a self-administrative joint organization awarding scholarships to those students and researchers, who showed superior knowledge and outstanding qualities in their fields. It not only seeks to fund scholars to enrich their academic knowledge, but also to promote the German culture and traditions in a diverse learning atmosphere. The scholarship organization has provided grants to AUBG graduates who chose to continue their academic career in Germany.
An AUBG student said that the scholarship helped her broaden her worldview. Irina Sotirova, a fourth-year student, is pleased with the experience she gathered from attending summer German language courses in the University of Bremen, and is looking forward to receiving a master’s degree in Germany. “This scholarship helped me learn more about Germany, about its culture, traditions,” she said. “I improved my German and met different people from all around the world.”
Diana Stantcheva, AUBG Associate Professor of German, hosted the event on behalf of the Department of Arts, Languages and Literature. She is a DAAD Alumna, as she has won the scholarship two times, the first time to pursue a master’s degree and the second for research. Professor Stantcheva believes that the opportunities which the DAAD Scholarships present will have multiple benefits for future career development. “This scholarship provides access to a different culture, a culture which is very rich, and to a strong financial market,” she said.
