Celebrating the Legacy We Build – Radio Aura and AUBG Musicals
On March 17, two of the clubs on campus held their birthday celebrations – Radio AURA and the Broadway Performance Club. They managed to gather both current students and alumni from different generations to join the festivities surrounding the 24th birthday of Radio AURA and the 10th anniversary of the Broadway Performance club.
As every year, Radio AURA’s birthday was divided into three parts. The celebrations started at 5:24 p.m. with a yard party at Skaptopara 1, which was opened to the entire AUBG community. Later that evening an official cocktail party took place at Alen Mak Hotel. Attendees were the current Radio AURA members, alumni of the club, current student club presidents, and faculty. Maria Mileva and Daniel Philips, current DJs at Radio Aura, hosted a short program themed “The Roaring 20s”, where each of the departments directors gave a small speech.
“Everything happened as planned and everyone, at least everyone from AURA, was enjoying it and was having fun. I am looking forward to the next birthday,” shared Gabriela Georgieva, general manager at Radio Aura.
The festivities surrounding Radio Aura’s birthday concluded with a student organized party at one of the local nightclubs – Juliany.
The second celebration that took place on the same date was 10th year anniversary of the Broadway Performance Club. For the first time in the club’s history, the team organized a cocktail party at the Hungry Griffin Cafe, which gathered both current members and alumni of the club – directors, producers, choreographers, vocal directors, organizers, and cast members.
“I was extremely happy to see so many AUBG Musical veterans on the 10th Anniversary gala,” said Denitsa Hristova, producer of the “Rock of Ages” musical. “This was the first time we celebrated the club’s birthday and I have to say that everything went according to plan.”
During the evening, the team held a small auction with items from previous performances of the club, which raised 350 BGN.
