The Student Government at AUBG (SG) organized the event at the ABF Sports Hall for a third time, with the support of other student-run organizations and the university administration. According to Georgi Georgiev, president of SG, between 200 and 250 students attended the ball. Georgiev shared that the Student Government tried to improve the organization of this year’s edition of the event. Each of the members of the SG was responsible for a task related to logistics, food and refreshments, decoration, or making the team more involved in the Christmas Ball. The team tried to structure better and shorten the program of the event, which resulted in the Christmas ball concluding around 11:30 p.m., compared to 2016 when it continued up until 12:30 a.m. John F. Mahon, а member of the AUBG Board of Trustees, made a donation for the creation of this year's event. Students were to share their Christmas or winter mood through pictures, and in return, the photograph which collected the most reactions was to receive a prize. The winner was Nadya Traikova, a high school student from Petrich, Bulgaria and a former participant at the AUBG MultiTalent Quest - 2017. The AUBG Dance Crew performed a set of dances and had prepared a flash mob with a fun Christmas choreography for the occasion. Prior to the celebration, the Dance Crew invited students to take part in a series of tutorial sessions.
“We did a workshop, in which we showed AUBGers some very basic moves, so that people can learn [the choreography] and participate in the flash mob," shared Dobrin Kalev, a third-year student and member of the Dance Crew. "The dance itself was very ridiculous because we had a penguin-like move and people really liked it and laugh at it."

Skenda shared that their participation was spontaneous. One of their friends posted the names of the two under the list of selection options at the Facebook page of the event. Initially, Skenda and Rikaj were reluctant to participate but as the voting process progressed, they had a change of heart.
“I loved it, the games and [the program]. I have noticed that right after the Ball, people who I don’t know personally, were like ’oh you were so nice, both of you‘ and that just made me feel a little bit special,” commented Skenda. Rukaj added that “It is nice to be the King of the Christmas Ball and to feel special for a few moments. I would like to make [the Christmas Ball] year by year, and make it a tradition.”
