Three-time world wrestling champion Armen Nazaryan was among the honorary guests on this year's AUBG Olympics day. The main event was held on Sunday, April 14, at the usual place - Porter Baseball Field. Among the other guests were the combat sambo coach Stoyan Saladinov and his champions - Rumen and Rosen Dimitrovi. The whole event turned out to be successful, as it got a lot of players and attendants. The annual Olympics event started on Saturday, April 13, with competitions in cycling and swimming. Those disciplines were deliberately conducted one day before the main event, as they required special terrains and fields that could not be satisfied with the ones at Porter Field. The event on Sunday began at 10 a.m. and went on for eight hours. There were nearly 20 different sports that AUBG students, professors and staff could participate in. As always, the Olympics crew prepared medals and awards for the top three contestants in each sport, including a small present from their sponsors. Among the new additions to the sport disciplines this year, apart from bench pressing and powerlifting, was the visiting climbing wall.It was accessible to all volunteers for climbing it, and there was even a prize for the one that could climb it the fastest. The special guests, Armen Nazaryan and the combat sambo champions, gave out a presentation on their wrestling abilities, as well as a tutorial how to act when attacked with a knife and a glass bottle. Armen Nazaryan also had his team in Tug of War, but was defeated at the first round by the four-time AUBG Olympic Tug of War champion, team “Voltron.” The weather was favorable towards the contestants, as there was no sign of rain. On the contrary, it was quite sunny so the people who spent their whole day at the field got quite sunburned. Once again, the AUBG Olympics managed to gather a big portion of AUBG students and faculty. Moreover, it was a big reunion for a lot of alumni who used to be members of the Olympics crew, or were just longing to see their AUBG friends again. The Olympics Food and Beverages Department prepared barbecue with some salads for the hungry attendants and gave away free drinks – both beer and soft drinks. They grilled so many kebapcheta and kyufteta that they managed to feed the hungry crowd. The ceremony was closed with a short rock concert performed by Piano Bar Limited's band. The Awards Ceremony started right after the concert and the respective medals and cups were distributed. The event was crowned with an after party at Piano Bar Limited.
