His name is Plamen Kostov. He  is a second-year student at AUBG and, unlike many AUBGers, he got an offer to play the main role in one of MTV's productions. Plamen majors in political science and business administration, and minoring in fine arts. While working in the U.S. this summer, Plamen went to several auditions and got a positive response from MTV. The role was for a TV series that was going to be aired at the end of the year. Unfortunately, Plamen wasn’t able to take the role, because he didn’t have the specific type of visa. According to him, if he had the right visa, he would have probably quit his Work and Travel program and perhaps AUBG, because his dream comes first, and he has always dreamed of becoming an actor. Since the seventh grade, he has been trying to get an acting role in Hollywood's productions in Bulgaria. In the tenth grade, he had a chance to go to the U.S. Plamen had applied to an arts academy in Los Angeles, but due to financial reasons, he couldn’t attend it. He postponed his acting career for the future and ended up with the offer from MTV. The MTV program in question was a short TV series of about 12 episodes, but if proven to be successful more episodes could certainly follow, Plamen explained. The role he was auditioned for was a TV person and a businessman, who also becomes a hacker at night. The character would do hacking for the company that he works for in order to gather important information for them. The role required someone who could speak fluent English but also Eastern-European accent. Plamen assumed that this was the reason due to which he was chosen for the role. Plamen said there were many acting positions available in New York, where he auditioned. There would typically be at least 20 auditions, for both low-budget and high-budget movies, every day. At one of them, he auditioned to be an extra for the new Batman movie. Plamen explained that auditions vary from person to person. Some producers and acting directors just want the person to send them their pictures or their CV. Others want Skype conversations. Most of them just prefer for one to go in person and present a monologue of a selected play. Plamen said he is going on an exchange program in California for a year. Most probably, he will get the chance to attend a number of acting auditions there. In case he gets a role, Plamen said he will probably quit AUBG. Plamen advised everyone to try acting because it opens one's mind, it helps one adapt to real life and helps people to completely reinvent themselves.
