A Producer with Style
Have you ever walked around campus at AUBG and suddenly a very well-dressed, elegant, young gentleman just passed by you? Well, that was definitely Martin Georgiev! He is a third-year student at AUBG, majoring in journalism and mass communications and minoring in fine arts. What is more, Martin has been the producer of this year’s musical “Burlesque“. In his daily clothing he definitely proves that he knows how to dress well.
Martin shares that he does not follow a particular style, but he always wants to present himself as a well-dressed person. You would never see him in sweatpants and trainers, unless he is going to the gym because he considers this type of clothing appropriate only for sports occasions.
To Martin the brand matters only if it is well-known to him and he is already convinced that it represents good and quality clothes. When he was in the U.S. ,he found two brands that became his favorite ones, a Japanese brand called “Uniqlo” and “J Crew“. On the second one Martin shared that, “If I had enough money I would buy the whole catalog.” Besides that, Martin admits that he does not mind shopping in second-hand shops if he finds something that he really likes.
Martin is from Blagoevgrad and he shared that in a small town like this he feels very limited in his choice of clothing stores. Because of that, he very often orders clothes online. But again, it has to be from a place that he knows well, so that he can find the right size and knows what to expect from the order. Sometimes, Martin buys clothes from H&M in Blagoevgrad, but he prefers to wait for the summer when he goes to Work and Travel in the States and buy clothes from there.
Regarding the details in clothing, Martin says that he is not a big fan of different men accessories. He bought his first watch in the previous summer , again in the U.S. It can switch its strap pretty easy, so Martin has several different straps, which he matches according to the color gamut of his clothes.
An interesting detail in Martin’s look, which might be called even his “trade mark,” is that he is always wearing colorful and outstanding socks. Martin got inspired about the socks-trend from a men magazine called GQ, which he has been reading since eight grade. There he found pictures of men wearing very colorful socks together with their casual outfits and he thought that this was pretty cool. Since then, he always tries to match his socks with his clothes.
Martin really loves journalism and in the future he even considers magazine journalism as a potential career opportunity. For now, Martin is developing his writing skills as being one of the Owls at AUBG Daily. His other greatest passion is musicals, which he started loving when he was at high school. In his first year at AUBG he joined the Broadway Performance Club .
Since then, he has been part of the organizing team. Martin shared that he likes to be a backstage participant in the show and was never tempted to participate in the musicals in another position. Still, he made his first steps in theater during his Applied Theater classes and soon we would be able to see him on stage.
