A Note From AUBG Daily’s Former President
It’s been several months that I roamed the world as an AUBG alumna, but it’s only now that reality knocked me on the head – the first week of classes is over and I am not a part of the AUBG bubble anymore.
In the last frenzy during graduation in May I said a lot of goodbyes – to my friends, my dear professors and colleagues. However, one of the toughest goodbyes I ever had to say was to the amazing team of AUBG Daily – those who made the Daily the great organization that it is today.
To all the incredible owls, I wish to say a simple ‘Thank you!’ for your tireless work, constant support and devotion, and for believing that together we can move mountains. I am eternally grateful to you for never stopping to fight for the truth.
It is because of you, dear owls, that the Daily grew immensely last year. It is thanks to you that our page reached approximately 420,000 views. Together we overcame our differences and wrote history as we published the newest newspaper on campus – a collaboration between the Daily and DeFacto. And one more thing that fills me with pride – within days we will post our 1000-th article, and we achieved that all together!
For an organization as young as the Daily, this makes me immensely proud; however, not impressed, as we all worked extremely hard to get where we are today – from the Founder’s team four years ago to the current 2016/2017 owl team.
As it is the tradition for the Daily’s presidents to say a few last words, I’d like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude towards my team:
Sabinche, the ex- and current Editor-in-Chief, I wish to thank you for being one of the people who supported AUBG Daily from the very beginning; those who made it what it is today. You are one of the most prolific authors and editors in our team and I thank you for your devotion. You helped us with The Griffin and you were there when we needed you. Thank you for being the amazing person that you are; for your impeccable writing and editing styles; and for your undying love for the Daily. You were the biggest support I had, and for that I am forever grateful!
Marti, our ex-Senior Editor, you were always there to correct, criticize, and advise us. Your excellent writing and editing skills made our job easy and brought each article to the utmost quality. I wish to thank you for always knowing what is going on within our small community and in Blago.
Dear Georgi, aka Goshko :), the current President, first of all thank you for being the best sports correspondent the Daily has ever had – soccer at AUBG has never been covered in a more captivating way! You supported the Daily since the beginning and kept the team’s spirit high. Thank you for your undying enthusiasm and for the sleepless nights during which we worked on The Griffin, despite the fact that it was days before finals week. I’d like to thank you for everything! I am certain that you will lead the Daily and The Griffin to an amazing adventure!
Dear Kati, our current Senior Editor, you learned quickly and you were not afraid to take on new things even when they were hard.
