Thomas Higgins gave valuable advice to all future entrepreneurs at the StartUP Conference during the second day of the event on March 25. He was the last of the guest lecturers and conducted an inspiring discussion about the economic environment in Bulgaria which is now suitable for new businesses.

Higgins is currently an investment banker, a development professional, an entrepreneur and an angel investor in many Bulgarian companies. He has been living in the country for the past 19 years and first arrived through the Bulgarian-American Enterprise Fund right after receiving his MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Ideas worth spreading is the motto of the well-known TED organization.

TED gathers creative people together with the simple intention to spread their innovational ideas among themselves and then with the rest of the world. Its videos on YouTube have millions of viewers and TED conferences cost up to 7500$ to attend. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Two major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Long Beach, California (along with a parallel conference, TEDActive, in Palm Springs), and TEDGlobal is held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
