ACT against ACTA

After the first protest against ACTA on February 11 the Bulgarian Government promised to suspend the ratification of the agreement. However, there will be a second protest this Saturday, February 25. Now Blagoevgrad is one of the chosen locations.

The fourth week of this semester’s AUBG Soccer Championship started on Monday, Feb 20. A total of 13 teams had signed up to compete on the fields in Pirin Sports Hall each week.
Two matches were played on Monday. Black Eagles lost from Wicked Sick with 0:2 and Macario’s Team won against Anakonda with the stunning 9:0.
For each win, a team gets 3 points and for each draw – 1 point. No points are taken for losses. Goals scored, goals conceded and the goal difference for each team are also noted in the table.
The current standing places the team of Wicked Sick at the top with six wins, a draw and no losses. Black Jaguars have no losses either but are two matches short and therefore occupy the second place. Third is the team of Tirona VK with four wins and two loses. Continue reading…

A lot of bouncing balls, whooshing shoe noise, people jumping and dunking – that is how Scaptopara Hall looked like on February 16, when the AUBG Olympics’ basketball challenge took place.
Ten teams participated in a fierce 3 vs 3 battle for the crown of the ring. Students from AUBG and SWU competed against each other to prove that their team is the better than other. After 2 hours of playing 3 students from SWU won the challenge and earned their prize – a brand new basketball.
The organizer of this event was the Olympics Crew member Blagoy Dermendjiev. “In the beginning very few people signed up, but few days before the challenge the expected number was reached,” said Blagoy.
Read more...Dilemma caused by AUBG Student Centre

After the feisty discussions on the topic of increasing the Students Activity Fee with 90$, and the petition signed thereafter, the decision still remains in power and the charge will be applied starting September 2012. A large online discussion was raised due to the late informing of students of the already voted increase in fees.
Digging deep into the Board of Trustees Handbook (being distributed only to students who have requested it), it is easy to discover the multifaceted reasons for the increase, mostly connected with the building and maintenance of the new AMF Student Centre: there will be a higher number of cleaning and lawn-keeping staff.
